Desta Ethiopian Kitchen: Reviews & Ratings
I had an amazing experience at Desta Ethiopian Kitchen Westside. The food was absolutely outstanding, rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The injera was fresh and soft, and every dish we tried had incredible depth and authenticity. You can truly taste the tradition and care in the cooking. Abel was our server and he was phenomenal. Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He explained the menu clearly, gave great recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever hovering. His service really elevated the entire experience. Exceptional food and exceptional service. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.
Delicious! Simply outstanding food! More than likely, there is something on the menu for everyone. In my group there were 2 vegans and what they ordered was fantastic! The restaurant was busy the entire time my group was there. The Meats tibs is plenty for 2 to 3 people to share. I will be back!
I’ve always had a soft spot for Ethiopian food, and Desta reminded me exactly why. From the moment I walked in, the warm, aromatic notes of berbere and sautéed onions filled the air—an unmistakable welcome that tells you you’re in for something special. The menu itself is thoughtfully designed, guiding you through the experience based on how adventurous you’re feeling. It’s the kind of place where first-timers can explore with confidence, and seasoned fans can still find something new to savor. I sampled a few dishes that beautifully balanced earthy lentils, spiced meats, and tangy injera—that soft, slightly sour flatbread that ties every bite together. Each dish felt like a conversation between flavor and culture. Desta delivers not just a meal, but a moment—one that feels both global and familiar. And now that I’ve discovered there’s a Desta in Dallas, I can’t help but wonder if it shares the same spirit as the Atlanta location. Either way, I plan to find out firsthand, fork (or injera) in hand.
First time here and so happy we chose this spot to try out. Such good food, flavorful, good portions for the price. Great selection and clear menu how to order. Mary, served us and she was wonderful! Very efficient, courteous, and helpful. Highly recommend this place
My wife and I showed up and while it.took a moment to get seated because the staff was busy, a table was easily available, even on a Saturday night. We ordered the Sambusas, Foul, and Vegan Platter. Not only we're all of these very tasty and filling (way too much food for 2 people to finish), but they came out quickly. The staff was courteous and helpful and everything was great. We will definitely come back.
We went on a Friday evening, and it wasn't too crowded so we were seated immediately. It's a nice space overall. I got the chicken tibs with miser and injera of course. The chicken was juicy and flavorful cooked with plenty of veggies. The miser was cooked perfectly, too. My first time visiting this location but have been to the other location a few times already.
My first time trying Ethiopian food. The food was savory. We had the Meat Lovers: fillet mignon, salmon, and short ribs. We also had mushrooms, lentils, cabbage, and rice. The short ribs were rubbery but they allowed us to swap out for Ribeye. Some of the furniture needs updating. We were in a booth and I could feel every movement of the person behind me.
10/10 recommend. The food was flavorful, tasty, fresh, and satisfying. It was all my vegan dishes on one plate. We weren't sure what everything was, so the waitress took the time to explain things to us. My go-to was the vegan platter. The mushrooms, lentils, chickpeas—everything was excellent! My husband had the grouper, and he said it reminded him of his childhood.
